Welcome to your Hong Kong travel guide!
So, you’re thinking about going to Hong Kong, eh? A marvelous idea! Just named one of the top 10 travel destinations for 2012, Hong Kong is as exciting and in fashion as ever. I will tell you some of the reasons why Hong Kong travel is so popular in just a second, but first let me explain what this site is all about:
My experience in Hong Kong travel started when I first came here as a mere 12-year-old and I loved every second of it! I’ve had a soft spot for Hong Kong ever since. I know what it’s like to discover this amazing place as a tourist, but now I have also lived here long enough to learn some of the ins and outs like a local insider.
I love this city, and I know that you’ll feel the same!
But a roaring seven million people metropolis like this one can sometimes feel big and confusing, and you can make so much more out of your trip if you have some expert guidance on your way.
That’s why I’ve decided to help out by presenting my own hard-earned knowledge. I have done all the research so you don’t have to. This website is independent and I will try to tell you honestly about both the good and the bad sides of Hong Kong travel.
For this purpose, I have tried to put together some of my experiences into a Hong Kong travel guide to a great vacation, including:
- Information about our most popular tourist attractions
- Guidance to the massive selection of Hong Kong shopping!
- How to satisfy your hunger with both local and international food
- Tips on finding the best Hong Kong hotel for your trip
- …and much more!
So, why Hong Kong?
Perhaps you might have heard of the unique history of Hong Kong? It used to be a British colony but is now back as a part of China. The result is a city where East meets West – maybe that sounds a like a cliché, but it’s really true! Western visitors can meet a lot of surprises here, and it could take a trip to the “real” mainland China to realise just how westernised Hong Kong is after all.
Hong Kong has earned its name as Asia’s World City, with lots of international flavour. Among many other things, here you can find not only people but also food from all over the world, as well as a chance to try genuine Chinese cuisine.
If you’re an experienced world traveller, this place is sort of a must – how can you not have seen Hong Kong? On the other hand, Hong Kong is great for less experienced travellers. For example, if you’ve never been to Asia before this is a FANTASTIC place to start! You see, truth be told Hong Kong is pretty safe compared to a lot of other places. The people here don’t live in disease-ridden squalor, and you can walk down the street without any fear of being attacked.
The city is also very accessible – especially compared to other parts of Asia. Not only does the well-functioning transport system make it easy to get around, but the language barrier is so much smaller! If you think that other flourishing cities necessarily have people who speak English, you could be in for a rude awakening. But in international Hong Kong you will always find someone to help you out. The people are friendly and the Hong Kong travel industry knows how to take care of its customers.
Hong Kong is simply a great place to go hang out and have a good time, whether it be with your family, with your significant other, or on a solo adventure.
Oh, and did I mention? The Hong Kong weather is warm and sunny!
